Here is one of the more curious ledger entries William wrote. On the right side is a list of all the people who purchased tea from a cargo which had arrived in Nov 1745. It basically is a who’s who of the leading citizens of the county (and beyond). And guess who is listed purchasing tea on the same day, Feb 25, as Mrs Sarah Turner (for the house)? I suppose our intrepid hat thief decided if you’re gonna look the part you better play the part.
